Pitfalls and prospects of contract farming to smallholder tobacco farmers in Shamva District, Zimbabwe

The objective was to assess the challenges and opportunities of contract farming smallholder tobacco farmers in ward 27, Shamva District, Zimbabwe. Data on demographics, household endowments economic social achievements from production collected using questionnaires interviews. A systematic sampling technique used selecting farmers. analysed SPSS version 26. results show that 93.9% participants were males most educated primary level (36.4%). Zimbabwe Leaf Tobacco Company (43%) cited as major company which provide 27. further indicated there are more received by such receiving inputs at no cost but face poor crop yields due low producer price (55%), high (30%), rainfall (9%) shortage firewood (6%). Some they do not have technical knowledge how use chemicals identifying pests so apply correct chemicals. It is recommended companies must collaborate with Ministry Agriculture train financial management skills, pest identification quality leaf improved. Nevertheless, contracting should tillage services ensure included determination.
